UK Grain Event 2009

A panel of experts in new ‘clinics’ will offer specific advice on a one-to-one basis to visitors to this year’s UK Grain event to be held on Tuesday 3rd November at the Newark Showground, Notts.

UK Grain offers the answers to key questions regarding grain drying, storage and marketing. The new grain clinics, along with the wide-ranging seminar programme and trade exhibitors presents a comprehensive advice package for visitors looking to make more from their grain.

The only event of its type, UK Grain, brings together the industry’s professionals and focuses on all aspects of the grain business from the moment it enters the store, through to marketing the crop. Expert speakers in the clinics and seminars aim to equip visitors with the latest advice on how to improve drying performance and efficiency in existing stores.

Exhibitors will be also displaying the latest technology with examples of new ideas from complete ‘turn-key’ installations as well as new equipment to improve drying, monitoring and storage. Although some farms may have taken the opportunity provided by past higher prices to invest in new storage, there are still many farms that are struggling to cope.

“Good prices in recent years have allowed some businesses to upgrade their facilities,” says Andrew Newbold of organiser Fusion Events. “But the current volatility means it is important that growers continue to invest in ways to ensure they deliver the quality and specification required to secure the best prices.

“UK grain brings together not only the equipment to do this, but also the best minds in the business. Our seminar programme this year looks to the future to where the market is going, how to ensure drying and storage is working efficiently as well as the options for those looking to invest in new storage.”

At the event visitors will have the opportunity to discuss with experts their specific requirements and then talk to exhibitors and advisers to find the best solution. This could involve updating existing equipment with the latest technology to lift performance and save energy, install a completely new bespoke unit or look at whether co-operative storage may be the answer.

UK Grain visitors can also look into grain marketing options and markets. This allows growers to assess the various options by comparing the group approach with the opportunities available for those who market their grain independently.
