UK Grain Event 2008 - the biggest yet...
UK Grain 2008, to be held on Wednesday 5th November at the George Stephenson Exhibition Hall, Newark Showground, Notts is the only event this year that focuses on storage, handling, monitoring and marketing of all combineable crops.
The strategic event’s comprehensive exhibition and seminar programme is aimed at providing growers with the opportunity to consider their post-harvest technology and marketing needs.
With an increase in exhibitors, this year’s event promises to be the biggest and most informative yet. Agencies and service providers will be explaining how to achieve best practice, and a range of solutions – from storage and handling, grain drying and energy efficiency through to crop quality will be on display.
A full seminar programme runs alongside the exhibition of equipment and services. Bringing industry experts together, these seminars are a must for all growers and advisors.
The impacts of changing climate on the timeliness of grain cooling will be discussed in a seminar with Dean Cook, business development manager at Central Science Laboratory (CSL).
With the reduction in the number of contact insecticides available to protect grain during storage, cooling has become essential for the maintenance of quality and protection against storage pests. In the HGCA co-ordinated project, Mr Cook will cover the results of the project and discuss the advantages that may be available through the use of differential thermostats.
The seminar programme will also include an outlook on cereal prices; with an emphasis on the cost of production and managing risk, presented by David Kinnersley, farm business consultant with Fisher German LLP.
