2010 Attendance is worth 3 NRoSO points and 4 BASIS points.
10.00am: ISObus in operation
ISObus allows a single terminal to control a wide range of compatible machines from different manufacturers. This seminar explains how the system works and the benefits this connectivity brings. A farmer user will also explain how the system works in practice.
10.45am: Controlled Traffic Farming – on course to improve profit?
Oxfordshire farmer, Nick August, will be talking about why he made a move into controlled traffic farming (CTF) and how the system is working so far. He will explain how he has implemented the CTF system across his entire 500ha farm and the benefits he sees that are coming from working in permanent tramlines.
11.30am: Guidance and autosteer costs and benefits assessed
Richard Means, of Stutt & Parker together with farmer James Evans, set up a farm scale trials last season to assess the true costs and benefits from using auto-steering. In this seminar they will present the results from this unique work and explain how quickly and easily it is to justify the investment in this technology.
12.30pm: Does Precision Farming pay?
Ian Beecher-Jones HGCA Project facilitator
Which aspect of precision farming has the possibility of providing your farm the best return on your investment? Come along to hear how the HGCA Be Precise Cost Benefit tool can provide you with some guidance on which may be the best system for you.
1.15pm: Variable rate applications in ‘real time’
One visitor will be leaving the Precision Farming with a free year’s use of a Yara N-Sensor Classic. In this seminar the company explains how crop scanning works and the benefits that come from applying variable rates of fertiliser to match the exact requirements of the growing crops.
2.00pm: Yield & moisture measurement on foragers
Staff from John Deere will explain how mixed farmers and contractors can benefit from the ability to measure and record forage yields and moisture, to optimise silage quality and maintain annual maps. This not only provides consistency, but also allows users and customers to target nutrient applications to boost second cuts and following crops.
