Speakers
Mark Tucker
Head of Agronomy, Yara UK Ltd
'2012 Frank Arden Memorial Award scholar, Fertilizers of the future - Nitrogen'
This review seeks to address the issues associated with nitrogen fertilizer, which include concepts such as peak oil/gas and the energy demand associated with the manufacture of fertilizer. Mark will then address how agricultural pracice can assist in this goal. The GM vs Environment debate are sure to get a mention!
Nik Johnson
'2012 Frank Arden Memorial Award scholar, Fertilisers for the future - a Phosphorus Perspective'
The aim of this study is to investigate the long-term supply of Phosphorus, and to look at the recycling and re-use technologies that are being developed. To also look at the efficient use of Phosphorus as a plant nutrient and the wider environmental impacts of Phosphorus as used in British agriculture.
Clive Blacker
Founder and director of Precision Decisions
Clive will aim to highlight how Precison farming techniques can be utilised to improve the accuracy of the application of nutrients from a practical and agronomic perspective. This will be described using examples of systems in use by today's progessive farmers.

Jo Franklin
'Soil and Crop Nutrition'

Having visited the oldest soils in the world in Australia through to the youngest in Argentina and Brazil, Jo has seen how soil should be treated, plant nutrition administered and soils worked and the benefit of these practices on profitable farming. Jo has carried out many trials on her own farm, which are ongoing and have had excellent results, which are changing the way she runs her farm and her contract farms and increasing their profitability. The results she is experiencing are living proof of the practices she has seen around the world working in this country.
