The Environment Agency is proud to support the Farm Energy Event. We are keen to work in partnership with organisations that can both help farmers reduce their environmental impact and at the same time, importantly, reduce farm costs. At a time of rising input prices this has never been more important for the agricultural industry. This event will offer some real practical solutions that farmers can implement, both in terms of energy and water efficiency and demonstrate that saving money can also help the environment.

emda is delivering the socio-economic elements of the Rural Development Programme for England (RDPE) 2007 – 2013. Funded by Defra and the European Union, emda has approximately £60m available for projects in the East Midlands, supporting the region’s farmers, foresters and horticulturists. emda is pleased to support this event as energy is a key theme running through RDPE in the East Midlands and is encouraging applications from land-based businesses to deliver projects that can demonstrate benefit in this area. There is tremendous scope for the development of energy efficiency and renewable energy production in the region including heating and power generation fuelled by biomass, hydro, wind, and biogas.

Natural England offers free advice to farmers and land managers on a range of enviromental and related topics. We work closely with the industry and key partners to provide advice meeting the needs of land managers to help them improve land management practices for the benefit of wildlife, landscape, public access and other enviromental purposes. Natural England is keen to help farmers adapt to climate change through the promotion of both on farm energy efficiency and energy production.
